A roomful of old friends catch up, look at yearbooks and talk about the memories they share.
The Lyman Hall class of ‘55 last got together for their 50-year reunion in 2005. This year, marking 61 years since they graduated from the school, several of the classmates decided to reunite again.
Jeanette McKenzey first called Larry Holcomb with the idea, and they worked with their old classmates Helen Wofford, Geraldine Gore and Robert Willis to arrange the event. Sixteen former classmates had lunch at Luna’s Restaurant in Gainesville Friday, bringing old yearbooks and photos to reminisce over.
“We appreciate everybody coming and thank you a lot,” Holcomb said. “We’ve been used to having a reunion with the whole school, but we thought it’d be more fun mixing and mingling with our class.”
Holcomb said Lyman Hall “was great in 1955.”
“We had some great teachers to put up with us,” he said.
Of a class of about 50, 19 have already died, according to McKenzey. She read a list of the deceased Friday before lunch.
“We’d like to remember the ones that passed on,” Holcomb said. “We are the lucky ones, to still be here.”
