Tyrone Lucas will be returning to West Hall Middle School as an assistant principal, according to school Principal Sarah Justus.

Lucas had served on the West Hall Middle faculty from 1993 to 2003, during which time he was an assistant football coach at West Hall High. He left the school in May 2003 to accept a teaching and coaching position at East Hall High.

Superintendent Will Schofield, who served as principal of West Hall Middle during part of Lucas’ previous tenure there, will be recommending him at the July 21 monthly board meeting.

Justus said Lucas stood out from the more than 100 applicants for the job.

"I was immediately impressed with his passion to serve students and families in the West Hall community," Justus said. "Mr. Lucas will be a strong role model for all our students. As athletic director, he will be involved with every facet of the athletic programming. ... Working with him in the past here at WHMS, I am convinced Tyrone Lucas will complement our administrative team and support our faculty and school initiatives."
