Georgia losing out on federal transporation, road funds
Placeholder Image
Georgia is among dozens of states trying to make up for stagnating federal funding of highway and bridge maintenance as cars become more efficient and drivers pay less in fuel taxes. Figures compiled by The Associated Press show the total amount of money available to Georgia from the Federal Highway Trust Fund has declined 12 percent during the five-year period ending in 2013, the latest year for which numbers were available. That’s compared to a 3.5 percent nationally during the same time frame.
