Gov. Nathan Deal appointed Joseph John Reed of Gainesville to the Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians on Friday.

Reed has been a licensed dispensing optician for more than 30 years. He also is American Board of Opticianry Master Certified and National Contact Lens Examiners Certified.

He is chairman of the Southeastern Opticians Conference, president of Joe Reed Opticians Inc. and an associate of the North Georgia Eye Clinic in Gainesville. He attended Gainesville College.
