The Gainesville school system is building a Mundy Mill elementary school for $17.4 million.

If you’ve been wondering about something in your community, Ask The Times is your place to get answers. The following question was submitted by a reader and answered through the efforts of our news staff.

What is the funding source for the two new Gainesville city schools: Enota and Mundy Mill? What is the amount for each as approved by voters?

Both projects are being paid for by the education special purpose local option sales tax V approved in 2015.

The cost for the Mundy Mill elementary school is $17.4 million, which does not include architect fees and furnishing.

Numbers for the new building for Enota Multiple Intelligences Academy are not known since the plans are in flux, but the contract will be close to the same cost as Mundy Mill, maybe a bit higher because of additional grading, according to Superintendent Wanda Creel.
