Ask The Times: Green Street repaving may be complicated

Why has Green Street not been resurfaced? There are repaving elsewhere, but not Green Street.

Green Street resurfacing isn’t on the immediate radar, especially as a study is underway looking under current pavement to see how best to improve the driving surface and fix drainage issues.

Otherwise, the Georgia Department of Transportation travels every mile of interstate and state routes each year to inspect pavement condition, district spokeswoman Teri Pope said.

“Based on that inspection, (resurfacing) projects are developed,” she said.

With new funding coming from the state transportation funding law passed by the General Assembly this year, “more resurfacing projects will begin as (the) funding becomes available,” Pope said.
