A 51-year-old local man died early Friday after his vehicle left the road and flipped on Chamblee Road in Oakwood, according to Sgt. Anthony Coleman with Georgia State Patrol.

Coleman said Ralph Proffitt of Oakwood was driving his 2002 Chevrolet truck west on Chamblee Road around 3 a.m. Friday when he “failed to maintain his lane as he entered into a curve.”

The truck then traveled into the oncoming lane, off the shoulder, rotated clockwise and overturned, flipping at least two times. Proffitt was not wearing a seat belt, and he was ejected from the truck, Coleman said.
