A memorial dedication ceremony remembering late Flowery Branch City Councilman Fred Richards is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at Flowery Branch Bay Park.

The Fred Richards Memorial Pier will be unveiled at the event. The park is at 6111 Mitchell St.

Richards died in June 2018, after having served on the council since April 2012. His obituary said that Richards “passed away suddenly.”

At the time, Mayor Mike Miller remembered Richards as “stubborn in a good way.”

“If he wanted something and thought it was the right thing to do, he wouldn’t stop until he got it,” he said.

Leslie Jarchow was elected Nov. 6 to replace Richards in the Post 3 council seat.
