The Lake Lanier Islands Development Authority approved site plans for additions to LanierWorld at a board meeting Friday morning.

The site plans include a dock installation for Sunset Cove with 21 wet slips and a fuel station. Another includes the addition of a dry slide.

Both site plans were passed unanimously by the board.

“This particular action item is sort of the formal board approval of a process that’s been in the works for a number of months to formally approve the modification of the site plan,” said Bill Donohue, executive director of the authority.

The new site plan now needs the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ approval.

The board additionally approved the budget and strategic plan for fiscal year 2015. Donohue said the budget looks very similar to this fiscal year, varying perhaps by $5,000. Donohue called it more “business as usual.”

Lake Lanier Islands Board Chairman Virgil Williams expressed his optimism for a better season at Lanier.

“We are fortunate to have a better weather pattern this year than we had last year,” he said.
