Lake Lanier Association plans to hold its annual membership meeting Tuesday night at Lakeview Center at 2057 Dawson Forest Road in Dawson County.

U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Todd T. Semonite, commander of the Corps of Engineers’ South Atlantic Division, is the guest speaker.

The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with light refreshments, followed by the program, which is set for 6-8:30.

Semonite has served in his post since May 1, 2009. The South Atlantic Division is one of eight corps regions in the U.S. and includes the Mobile District, which governs Lake Lanier.

The association’s Board of Directors also will update the membership on the association’s current activities and events.

Political candidates are scheduled to present their views on issues regarding Lake Lanier. The association plans to hold a political forum at 5:30 p.m. June 21 at Legacy Lodge & Conference Center at Lake Lanier Islands.

Tuesday’s meeting also is open to nonmembers interested in preserving the lake.
