Jury selection started Monday, May 7, in a Barnes Drive fatal shooting case.

Delwoun Quinntess Williams, 24, was charged in September with malice murder by a grand jury. Cornelius Gordon, 24, of Gainesville, was struck in the head with a bullet on Barnes Drive on June 26, 2017.

According to the indictment, Williams is also charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, terroristic acts and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office authorities said Gordon was seated in the car when hit by the bullet. People gathered at the Barnes Drive address for a party, according to authorities.

Chief Assistant District Attorney Wanda Vance said 36 potential jurors were qualified around 5:45 p.m. Monday, May 7. Questions from the attorneys surrounded familiarity with gangs, gang activity and firearms.

The case is expected to start 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, in Superior Court Judge Jason Deal’s courtroom.
