Cynthia Lyne Shubert-Jett has filed to run in the March 20 Clermont Town Council Ward 1 special election.
Jett, 65, is a retired local government employee who has lived in Clermont since the end of 2011. She was born in San Diego, where she lived almost all of her life with her husband, Kenneth Jett.
In California, Cyndy Jett started her career with San Diego County as a typist, but in her two decades she worked in various levels of management within the county’s social services departments.
“My best title is still ‘mom,’” Jett said on Tuesday.
She moved to Clermont to be closer to family, and after about seven years in the community, and after conquering some health issues, Jett said the time was right to get more involved in the community.
From her time reviewing minutes of the town council and living in the community, she sees planned school growth and properly maintained zoning as high priorities for the community.
She’s filed to run for the Ward 1 seat vacated by Robin Brown in December.
The Jetts live just off of Main Street near the park in downtown Clermont.
Candidate filing for the special election ends at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
