The death of a Jackson County boy who drowned in a babysitter’s swimming pool Thursday remains under investigation, officials said Saturday.
Jackson County Coroner Keith Whitfield said no foul play is suspected in the death of 5-year-old Chad Michael Brophy.
The boy was being looked after by a woman Thursday afternoon at a home on Hubert Pittman Road when he disappeared, Whitfield said. The woman suspected he may have been in the backyard swimming pool, but because of the dark murkiness of the water, could not see him, Whitfield said.
Emergency medical responders found the boy submerged at the bottom of the 8-foot-deep pool shortly after arriving, Whitfield said.
More than an hour of resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, Whitfield said.
