Investigation into costly fire ruled accidental, handed to insurance company

The Sunday fire that caused nearly $1 million in damage at the Gainesville Truck Center is now believed to have been caused by a piece of floor cleaning equipment.

The Hall County Fire Department originally believed the fire was started by a battery charger.

However, the fire still has been ruled accidental, Fire Marshall Scott Cagle said in a statement.

Fire officials have determined the fire started in the engine compartment of the truck that was destroyed.

Cagle said the truck center’s insurance company will now take over the investigation.
