A Gainesville woman seriously injured in a New Year’s Day one-vehicle crash that killed the driver and front-seat passenger has been moved out of the intensive care unit, according to Northeast Georgia Medical Center officials.

Lakeisha Young, 22, was listed in fair condition Monday afternoon, hospital officials said.

A Jetta driven by Quentian Jesse Nixon, 28, of Jacksonville, Fla., left the roadway on Interstate 985.

The car struck a tree around 5:10 a.m. near the Friendship Road exit.
