H&R Block partners with Humane Society, brings in puppies during tax season
The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia visited H&R Block on Thompson Bridge Road Friday afternoon with two puppies for tax preparers and customers to enjoy during the busy, stressful tax season.

How to help Humane Society

Humane Society’s code for H&R Block: 40010001095240

Wish list can be found here.

H&R Block and the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia teamed up to make tax season more bearable for everyone.

For every new customer that uses the Humane Society’s code at any of the six participating H&R Block locations in Hall County, the shelter receives $20. The code is 40010001095240 and is valid through April 30.

“So far 22 people have used the code, but we’re sure the number has gone up in the past few days and we can’t wait to see the final number,” said Lizzy Higgins, marketing communications manager for the shelter.

Last time she checked, the code had raised $440 for HSNEGA. H&R Block is also collecting donations for the shelter, and the shelter’s wish list page can be found here.

Higgins brought two “Chiweenie” (a mix of a chihuahua and a daschund) puppies to the location off Thompson Bridge Road for an hour of playtime and puppy therapy Friday.

“Cuddles are always great,” Higgins said.

Donna Todd, a senior tax consultant, took a break between customers to play with the dogs.

“I just love having them here,” Todd said. “It’s a therapeutic thing.”

One of the 2-month-old puppies spent time playing with 18-month-old Beckett Routh in the waiting area of the location.

Beckett’s mom, Amber Routh, is a customer.

“It was a nice added bonus of coming in today,” Routh said. “Puppies are always nice.”
