Building starts at levels not seen since recession

Crews are completing rows of new homes in the Mundy Mill subdivision in Oakwood. The subdivision has sold 10 homes in 45 days.
Housing starts are up nationwide, and Hall County is catching some of that wave. “We’re seeing construction across the country, including Georgia and Hall County, as result of a growing shortage of housing,” said Frank Norton, a Gainesville real estate executive and observer of development trends. “However, we are not building houses at the same rate as prerecession levels.”
