A bank robbery suspect is being sought by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department after a Monday afternoon incident at Hamilton State Bank, located at 3528 Ga. 53 in Hoschton.
Authorities identified 36-year-old Soua Lee, who works in Norcross, as the suspect.
The suspect allegedly entered the bank just after 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Braselton Police Chief Terry Esco responded to the alarm at the bank, located just outside the Hoschton cit limits. As Hoschton does not have a police force, the Braselton Police Department assists the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department as backup as requested.
According to Sheriff Janis Mangum, the suspect produced a bag and demanded money. No weapon was produced, but Esco said the man walked in and said he wanted all the money and he meant it.
Tellers complied with the request, but authorities are not releasing the amount of money estimated to have been taken by the man who left the scene in a blue or light gray vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Rendezvous.
A witness who was at the drive-in attempted to get the tag number but the license plate was obscured, according to Esco.
Surveillance video captured an image of the suspect. If you have information about the suspect or the crime, contact Investigator Richard Vickery at 706-387-6045 or rvickery@jacksoncountysheriff.us.
