A homebuyers’ session aimed at law enforcement, firefighters, teachers, health care workers and veterans will be from 9 to 11 a.m. March 19 at Homestar Financial.
The meeting will be in the old Gym of 36 building, 332 Washington St. NW, Gainesville.
Ron Ross, the statewide coordinator for the GA Dream homeownership program, will speak.
Diane Hicks, with Keller Williams Lanier Partners, also is sponsoring the meeting.
The GA Dream program provides first mortgage loans, down payment assistance and home buyer education to eligible home buyers. An eligible borrower must not have owned a home in the past three years or must be purchasing a home in a targeted area. The borrower must meet income and purchase price limits, have limited assets, and must invest at least $1,000 in the purchase.
Protectors, educators and nurses can get assistance of up to $7,500 with the down payment if they meet other provisions to qualify for the program, according to the state Department of Community Affairs website.
