The county’s administrative offices will be closed today for the holiday and again Tuesday for an employee furlough day.
The Board of Commissioners instituted one day per month of unpaid leave to compensate for revenue shortfalls due to the recession. All county administrative offices will be closed Tuesday, while public safety and necessary public works personnel will operate as usual.
In Gainesville, the solid waste/recycling pickup schedule for this week will be altered because of Labor Day. Because no routes will run on the holiday, Monday customers will be picked up Tuesday, with Tuesday customers picked up on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday routes will not be changed.
Recycling will take place as usual. For more information, call Solid Waste Supervisor Danny Owen at 770-532-0493.
