History center offers ghost tours

History buffs and ghosts hunters will both find thrills at the annual Ghost Walk in Gainesville. Northeast Georgia History Center and Brenau University partner to offer the ghostly tours which begin at 6 p.m. tonight and Saturday nights. Tours will start every 20 minutes until 8 p.m. and last about two hours.

Tickets are available for $10, and reservations are suggested by calling 770-297-5900. Children under 10 are not permitted. Walkers are asked to arrive 30 minutes early, dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes.

Tours will begin and end in the basement of the Northeast Georgia History Center, 322 Academy St., Gainesville. The tour will take participants to several buildings in and around the Brenau campus.

Professional paranormal researchers will also be on hand to share paranormal evidence gathered during past ghost walks.

Julie Carson, education and volunteer coordinator for the history center, said the ghostly tours are all based on factual evidence.

“They’ll enjoy it is a history lesson,” Carson said. “But it will leave you wondering and wanting more.”
