A 112-acre business park is underway off of Lanier Islands Parkway in South Hall.
The property, which will become Lanier Logistics Center, plans to feature two buildings for distribution. It’s located about a half-mile from Interstate 985.
The project is led by IDI Logistics, an Atlanta-based investor and developer of logistics real estate.
One of the buildings will encompass 815,360 square feet and the other will cover 301,320 square feet, according to the developer’s master plan. The sites available for lease can accommodate 100,000-815,360 square feet.
Both buildings reach nearly 40 feet in height and include a combined 289 spaces for trailers and 608 parking spots.
Plateau Excavation is serving as the grating contractor and The Conlan Company will construct the buildings.
Stephen Storms, the broker who represents the land’s sellers, said tree clearing started in early April and contractors have already started to work on the footings for the buildings’ foundations.
Storms compares the business park to the distribution centers used for Amazon.
“It’s a very strategic location, they’ll have a ton of trucks going in and out for distribution,” Storms said. “Industrial properties are extremely hot right now.”
The business park will have its main entrance off of Lanier Islands Parkway and a second entrance of off Atlanta Highway.
Since contractors started working on the property in the spring, Storms said several hotel, restaurant and retail developers have shown interest in the 8 acres of unused land in front of the business park.
“It’s going to be a big project that will affect the community,” Storms said. “Not only for people to get their orders faster, but the number of people employed, the restaurants and hotels — all of those things are going to be valuable to the community.”
