Make your choices

Visit www.bestofnorthgeorgia.com to nominate and later vote for your favorite businesses and services. Nominations will be accepted through Jan. 28.

North Georgia offers a wide array of businesses and services that make living, working and playing in the region top notch. That’s why The Times is proud to present the Best of North Georgia 2016.

This inaugural reader’s choice campaign is your chance to first nominate your favorites and then come back and vote for the finalists.

Beginning today, you can nominate the best in more than 250 categories online at www.bestofnorthgeorgia.com. There are seven main categories, each with subcategories.

The main categories include automotive/marine; food and beverage; home/personal services; medical and health; professional services; recreation/destinations; and retail. So you can nominate services ranging from best burger or pizza to best oil change or gym.

Nominations close at 11:59 p.m. Jan. 28. Then voting for finalists begins in February. To nominate a business or service, go to the Best of North Georgia ballot page, sponsored by Moore’s Wealth Management, and create a login for this community event by clicking on Register/Log-in. Then pick categories and name your nominees in as many categories as you like. Readers may make nominations once a day.

Charlotte Atkins, publisher of The Times, says this is a new event for North Georgia and the newspaper.

“We have so many businesses that provide a huge range of valuable goods and services to our region. We wanted a way to showcase as many of those businesses as possible and wanted to involve readers of all of our print and digital products. The Best of North Georgia is an exciting and engaging way to that,” she said.

“It is our hope that local businesses will participate and get out there and campaign for what they have to offer that sets them apart and that area readers and customers will both nominate and then vote for their favorites. Then the best of the best — the top vote-getters — will get to proudly proclaim and display that their businesses are the Best of North Georgia for 2016.”
