Hall County Farm Bureau will host its second annual Agricultural Equipment Transportation and Safety Seminar at 6 p.m. Feb. 6 at the North Hall Community Center.
Last year’s inaugural seminar trained more than 100 farmers and law enforcement officers on current highway rules and regulations for ag equipment. After receiving feedback and additional questions from local growers, Hall County Farm Bureau’s Young Farmer Committee has decided to make this seminar an annual event for both farmers and agribusiness men and women plus law enforcement officers in North Georgia.
RSVPs are required by Feb. 1 for the free event, as dinner will be provided. Attendees will hear from Capt. Lee Roberson of the Georgia Department of Public Safety on updated laws, rules and regulations for highway and off-road agricultural equipment in addition to utility task vehicle safety and Map 21.
White County’s UGA Extension agent Nathan Eason will also address tips for handling and transporting ag chemicals. This presentation can count for one hour of credit toward a farmer’s pesticide license. Additionally participants will receive an update on the Georgia Agriculture Tax Exemption card from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Congressman Doug Collins’ office will provide an update on transportation legislation and the 2018 Farm Bill.
