Hall Development Authority to review bond terms for Brenau projects

The Gainesville and Hall County Development Authority will meet again next month to discuss financing details for about $8 million in campus construction projects at Brenau University.

The projects include building new sorority houses, a residence hall, anatomy lab and field house.

The authority, as well as the Brenau Board of Trustees and Hall County Board of Commissioners, already approved issuing revenue bonds to pay for the projects.

Officials said they continue to sort through the rates and terms of the bonds, which BB&T bank is buying. They hope to get a fixed rate approved.

The authority will also consider awarding a road construction contract for the Chicopee Mill Industrial Center.

The road will provide access to the new 40,000-square-foot headquarters and production facilities of REP Inc., which manufactures industrial blowers and vacuum pumps, in Industrial Park West.

Authority Chairman Philip Wilheit said contract bids came in a little over budget and that a slightly scaled-down project was needed.

When approved, the contract will be worth about $210,000 to $220,000, Wilheit said.
