At Monday’s meeting, The Hall County school board is set to consider some $600,000 in air-conditioning upgrades this summer.

The work primarily would be done at South Hall Middle School at 3215 Poplar Springs Road and some computer server rooms across the district, said Hall schools Superintendent Will Schofield.

Also, the district is looking at some air-conditioning work at five or more cafeterias.

Construction manager Jerry Huguley and nutrition director Cookie Palmour have worked on a "triage list" of where to do the cafeteria work, Schofield said.

The district’s 1-cent sales tax program would pay for the improvements.

The school board is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the district central office at 711 Green St.

The board also is set to approve principals.

Also, administrators are working to fill several principal vacancies.

Gary Brown of North Hall High School, Wayne Colston of Mount Vernon Elementary and Terry Dover of Lula Elementary are retiring after this school year.

Aaron Turpin of Lyman Hall Elementary is leaving to become the system’s chief technology officer.
