Hall County proposing tax increase

Hall County officials are considering a tax increase to balance the fiscal year 2015 budget. Because of growth in the tax digest, or taxable property in the county, primarily due to reassessments of lakefront homes, the county would have to roll back the tax rate to 5.98 to remain revenue neutral in the next fiscal year. But County Administrator Randy Knighton told The Times on Wednesday a proposal is on the table to keep the property tax rate at 6.25.
