Following a federal expansion of the profiling ban this week, local law enforcement officials said their policies are set to hold their officers to similar standards. President Barack Obama’s administration unveiled expanded guidelines for federal law enforcement practices related to profiling Tuesday. The ban, which began with 2003 directives from former President George W. Bush regarding race and ethnicity, was expanded to include gender, religion, national origin, sexual orientation and gender identity.
