Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell and a deputy were shot and wounded Sunday in Clarkesville, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

They were taken to a local hospital for treatment, GSP said.

The wife of the shooter was fatally wounded. The shooter is a former Habersham deputy and remains at large, GSP said.
