A 486-bed student housing project near the University of North Georgia’s Gainesville campus was approved by the Oakwood City Council on a site slightly larger than one approved earlier this year.

The larger development includes the site where Lanier Wholesale Produce currently stands.

The business, which has been open for about 40 years and has had three locations, would move to a new location, owner Mitch Reddick has said.

The new location has not been finalized yet, he said.

The housing complex will be off Atlanta Highway/Ga. 13 and Frontage Road.
