Those of you hitting the stores for last-minute Christmas gifts or getting in a little caroling will need to brace for a soggy weekend.
Rain was expected to move in overnight and linger on and off through Monday, according to the National Weather Service. Rainfall totals are expected to be light but a cloudy, drizzly weekend will greet winter when it officially arrives Sunday.
Cold rain and fog are in Saturday’s forecast with a high near 50. The chance of rain drops overnight but pockets of drizzle may continue until morning with a low in the upper 30s.
Sunday will bring more of the same, with a 30 percent chance of drizzle and a high again around 50. Sunday night’s low will be 41 under cloudy skies.
Christmas week will begin with another gray, soggy day Monday, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms arriving Tuesday and lingering into Christmas Eve. In fact, the sun may not make much of an appearance until Christmas Day, which is expected to be cool but clear.
