Gillsville Highway back open after being blocked by tree, power lines

Gillsville Highway has been reopened after being blocked for about an hour by a downed tree and telephone lines.

The utility pole was originally thought to hold power lines, but Jackson EMC responded to the damage and found they were just telecommunication lines, according to company spokeswoman April Sorrow.

Gillsville Highway was blocked for about an hour just west of East Hall Road, according to Hall County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Chris Dale. The tree fell close to 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
