GBI: Two dead from gunshot wounds in Mount Airy

Two men were found with gunshot wounds at their neighboring Mount Airy homes on Wednesday.

Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are now investigating their deaths.

The sheriff’s office requested the GBI assist in the death investigation after a call around 1 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Key Road.

Authorities found Ronald Ramey, 68, had suffered a gunshot wound. Ramey succumbed to his injuries after transport to Habersham Medical Center.

After arriving at the scene, authorities found Hershel Key, 77, dead at his neighboring Key Road home also from an apparent gunshot wound.

Autopsies will be performed today at the Decatur GBI Crime Lab.

The investigation is ongoing.
