The Gainesville Water Resources Department is holding an open house tour at the Linwood Wastewater Treatment Plant at 11 a.m. Friday.

Participants will be able to see how wastewater is treated and enjoy the view of Lake Lanier from the plant. The tour will last approximately an hour.

“If anyone has ever wondered about how their wastewater is treated, this is a great opportunity to see firsthand,” said Bacle Fowler, Linwood Plant Manager, in a press release. “The Linwood Plant is our newest and uses advanced membrane technology to treat an average of 2.6 million gallons of wastewater a day.”

The Conservation Crusader, who “visits elementary students and adult groups to spread the word about the importance of water conservation,” will make a special appearance, and free water conservation kits will be available.

The Linwood Wastewater Treatment Plant is located at 500 Plant Drive in Gainesville.
