A Gainesville teenager has been charged with rape involving a 14-year-old girl.
A 16-year-old was arrested Tuesday and charged with rape, aggravated sodomy and second-degree burglary.
Because the decision to try the teenager as an adult is up to the district attorney’s office, The Times will not name the accused.
The juvenile is accused of entering a Flowery Branch home on Feb. 1 and committing a sexual act “forcibly and against (the) will,” of a 14-year-old girl, according to the warrants.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Deputy Nicole Bailes wrote in an email that the defendant and the victim knew each other.
“The mother sought the prosecution due to her child’s age,” Bailes wrote.
The female minor is not old enough to consent, Bailes wrote.
