Hall County dispatch: 770-536-8812

Gainesville Police Department officers are looking for information about shots fired at Ridgecrest Apartments on Saturday night.

Gainesville resident Gwiana Bailey told officers she was standing outside of her apartment when a group of men started yelling at her around 9 p.m. A male started shooting at her with a handgun, and another group of men started firing at the first group who yelled at her, witnesses told police.

"No one was injured; we're very thankful for that," said Lt. Carol Martin of the Criminal Investigations Division.

Officers questioned several witnesses. After searching the area, they found a 40-caliber Smith & Wesson gun, which was reported stolen in DeKalb County. Officers also located several used shell casings from three different handguns.

"Anybody who observed what happened should give us a call so we can determine what happened here," Martin said. "We know of no motive at this time."

Also during the weekend, Gainesville officers arrested and charged two people for a residential burglary that occurred earlier in the week.

Kelvin Cornelio, 20, and Brandon Miller, 17, both of Gainesville, were charged March 11 and booked at the Hall County Jail.

On March 7, a resident from Chicopee Crossing Condos reported a burglary at his home on Creek Bottom Court. The residence was entered by breaking a window.
