Gainesville police officer Chelsea L. Laughlin is in stable condition at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a Friday afternoon traffic accident at E.E. Butler and Jesse Jewell parkways. Police spokesman Cpl. Joe Britte said the crash happened around 12:30 p.m. “The officer was making a right from E.E. Butler onto Jesse Jewell and the cars collided — sort of like a sideswipe type of collision,” Britte said. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating.
