A Huddle House employee was shot multiple times late Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the New Holland restaurant.

Michael Benham, 60, of Lula was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in critical condition but is expected to survive, according to Gainesville Police.

A suspect has not been identified.

Police arrived at 1920 Jesse Jewell Parkway at about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday.

“The initial investigation indicates an unknown subject(s) entered the business and shot a male employee multiple times,” Sgt. Kevin Holbrook wrote in a news release Thursday morning. “A female employee of the business was able to get away and seek help at a nearby convenience store.”
