Gainesville officials intend to interview personnel in all city departments, beginning with the fire department, after an inquiry into the police department this summer revealed growing concerns about employee morale. Officials told The Times they hope these confidential interviews will allow them to address workplace issues before they boil over. “I think it’s something we’re going to do throughout all the departments,” said Mayor Danny Dunagan, adding that he expects city management and human resources officials to conduct similar interviews every year going forward.
