Gainesville has a new chief financial officer and administrative services director.

Jeremy Perry will begin Oct. 31 as CFO. Janeann Allison, who has been serving as interim administrative services director, has been given the job permanently.

Both positions were held by Melody Marlowe before she retired in June to become finance director for the city of Dahlonega.

Perry has served as finance director for Flowery Branch since 2012. He previously worked as financial manager and budget officer for Hall County from 2005-2012, as well as an auditor for local governments and nonprofits for more than five years, according to a news release from Gainesville. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from what is now the University of North Georgia’s Dahlonega campus and an associate degree in criminal justice from what is now UNG’s Gainesville campus.

“We are very excited to bring someone into our senior management team with Jeremy’s experience, not only in city financial operations, but with his extensive knowledge of our community,” City Manager Bryan Lackey said in the news release.

Allison has served as the city’s human resources director since 2014 and was the Habersham County manager and county clerk for eight years. She has a degree in psychology from the University of North Georgia and has completed the management development class at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government.

“Janeann has served the city well as human resources director and will easily transition into this new position,” Lackey said in the news release.
