The Hall County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Sunday night shooting that sent a Gainesville man to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Justin Stevenson, 32, of Gainesville, was shot in his right arm during a verbal and physical confrontation with two men in the parking lot of a store in the 2400 block of Athens Highway, said Col. Jeff Strickland, sheriff's spokesman.

The preliminary investigation indicates the two men in a blue Chevrolet Tahoe followed Stevenson into the parking lot, where one of the men pulled a small-caliber handgun and fired one shot at Stevenson.

Stevenson told police the men then drove off in the Tahoe, heading north on Athens Highway toward Gainesville, Strickland said.

The victim went to his home on Forrest Brook Crossing in Thousand Oaks subdivision and dialed 911.

Hall County deputies and emergency responders went to the scene at 11 p.m.

Stevenson, who was taken by ambulance to the hospital, also told police money that was in his vehicle at the time of the incident is missing, Strickland said.

"However, he indicates that the (two men) did not enter his vehicle," he added.

Further information, as well as detailed description of the two men, wasn't available.
