With the assistance of a new pawnshop ordinance, Gainesville police charged a man Tuesday with thefts reported over the past two months, officials said. Jeremy A. Richie, 35, of Gainesville is accused of stealing items from cars and exchanging the merchandise for cash at several local pawnshops, police said. He already was in custody on an unrelated probation violation charge when the new charges were brought.
