Gainesville police are seeking a man who robbed the Quality Inn on Jesse Jewell Parkway at gunpoint on Wednesday night.

Police say a black man wearing a mask approached a clerk at the hotel's kitchen area just before 8 p.m. He brandished a handgun and forced the clerk to the front office, then demanded money from a cash register.

The man forced the clerk into a back room and fled with an undisclosed amount of money, police say.

The female employee was not injured, and no customers were in the hotel at the time.

The suspect is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 160 pounds, wearing blue jeans, a black, pullover hooded sweatshirt and white gloves.
