A Gainesville city councilman, working with the police department, is organizing a neighborhood watch program for the location of two recent West Avenue killings. Councilman George Wangemann, a West Avenue resident, collaborated with Gainesville police spokesmen Cpls. Joe Britte and Kevin Holbrook to set up the program after the recent violence, with the initial meeting set for 7 p.m. this Thursday.
