Development, expanding public transportation and road infrastructure projects, and improving code enforcement and public safety were among the priorities identified by the Gainesville City Council during its annual retreat Friday.

The Gainesville City Council voted Tuesday to take on 6.6 acres of surplus property near the new Lanier Tech campus as public right-of-way.

The city accepted the land from the Technical College System of Georgia, and the three roads surround the campus off of Ga. 365.
