Georgia Power has increased the ways customers can learn about outages.
Customers can visit www.georgiapower.com/storm to choose to be notified by text message, phone call or email. The service will then notify them of any power outage at their home or business. Five people can be registered per account.
The messages will include details like the cause of the outage and estimated time it will take to restore power; messages also will be sent if the estimated time changes. The service also includes a do not disturb option that will silence alerts at selected times such as overnight.
Georgia Power’s website also allows customers to report outages and view an outage map for the state, which tracks crews as they work to restore power. It also includes severe weather information and tips.
