Chris Cummiskey, the commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, delivered a pep rally of sorts to the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce on Thursday. His message was that job growth was getting better, as was evident by preliminary numbers showing a drop in unemployment in the metro Gainesville area in April, but the state had room to improve in becoming a more business-friendly environment.
