Motorists coming off I-985 south won't be able to turn left on Mundy Mill Road because of the work, said Teri Pope, spokeswoman for the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Crews will be removing old asphalt and putting down new asphalt in left-turn lanes that will enable Mundy Mill motorists to travel onto I-985 south.
Motorists coming off the interstate can continue up Ga. 53 about 500 feet and make a U-turn to travel on Mundy Mill Road eastbound.
Also, those traveling westbound on Ga. 53 and needing to turn left on I-985 south can make the same maneuver, getting into the right lane heading east before turning onto the I-985 exit ramp.
If weather does not allow the work to occur this weekend, it will be rescheduled for May 21-22, Pope said.
The work is part of a $75 million reconstruction of the interchange and surrounding roads, a project that is expected to end in December.
