People of Hall County and surrounding communities will have the opportunity to receive free teeth cleaning or extractions Saturday, Feb. 23, at Dental Care of Braselton.

The Braselton practice will open its doors to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for its first Free Dentistry Day. The building is located at 2625 Old Winder Highway near Pat’s Eatery in Braselton.

Angie Muhaw, Dental Care of Braselton’s practice manager of operations, said all ages are welcome to participate in the event. She said people will not have to show proof of residency for the Hall County area, all will be accepted.

“Any patient that comes up, it doesn’t matter where they live,” Muhaw said. “We’re going to see as many as we can until 1 p.m.”

All hands will be on deck, including volunteers from other dentistry practices. Dental Care of Braselton will have Dr. Terry Powers and his staff working along with four more dentists and other employees from the area.

Muhaw said the staff at Dental Care of Braselton had the idea of launching a Free Dentistry Day when it opened nearly six years ago. Now that the practice has the resources to pull off the event, she said they were eager to get the ball rolling.

“I hope that they get the treatment they need because there’s a lot of patients that don’t have the funds available,” Muhaw said. “It’s great to be able to help them.”

Because of the anticipated influx of patients on Saturday, she said people will have the option of choosing cleaning or extractions — not both.

The practice will accept patients on a first-come, first-served basis.

“We understand that many people in our community and across the nation haven’t been to the dentist for a long period of time,” Powers said in a press release. “Some don’t understand the importance of dental health, but more often than not, they don’t have the financial means. This event is a great opportunity for us to share our time and resources with those less fortunate and give back to the community.”
