After hours of searching an area of dense woods and businesses in north Forsyth, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 30-year-old local man who fled the scene of a wreck on Monday morning.
Quin'ville Latrell Quarles Sr. of Forsyth County was taken into custody at about 2:45 p.m., after plainclothes officers responded to reports that a man matching Quarles' description had been spotted at a Walmart off Browns Bridge Road in north Forsyth, according to Sheriff's Office spokesman Cpl. Doug Rainwater.
At about 8:54 a.m. Monday, Quarles was involved in a traffic accident at White Oaks Academy off on Martin Road near Ga. 400, fleeing shortly after a deputy arrived on the scene and began running the wrecked vehicle's information, Rainwater said.
Deputies discovered that Quarles was wanted in Hall County on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and obstruction-resisting arrest.
Rainwater said that over the hours after Quarles fled the scene, deputies searched through a large swath of land in the area of Ga. 400 and Martin Road, responding to four different calls from community members who had seen a man matching Quarles' description.
Several calls from individuals at the Browns Bridge Walmart led authorities to Quarles, who was apprehended while allegedly attempting to steal tennis shoes to replace shoes he had lost during his flight from authorities, Rainwater said.
Charges against Quarles are pending and he is currently being processed into the Forsyth County Jail.
